Before dawn on Thursday, June 28, five riders,
five horses, four grooms, two instructors, and a
couple of drivers and co-pilots started out for
Paxton Farm in Batavia, Ohio. They arrived
shortly after noon, unpacked, rested during the
heat of the day, rode, had pizza, and met other
youth teams. It was after 8 pm when they headed
to their hotel and met the group who had flown
into Cincinnati. On Friday, the five riders who
made up the Centennial Acres Heart Breakers
youth championship team competed against eight
other teams from Region 2 in the USDF. It was
thrilling for the riders to know that they can
ride well enough to score in the 60% - 76% range
under USDF judges! In the afternoon there was
an awards ceremony where Mr. & Mrs. Paxton
congratulated the team and the judges handed the
girls their awards. The team placed FIRST in
the second division with an average score of
67%, with each team member receiving a first
place medal. Sarah S. also received a high
percentage award and Hannah B. received a
reserve high percentage award. It was an
exciting day. Special thanks to grooms Anne
S, Heather G, Lizzie V. and Tracy W. All are
students of Tena Frieling and Lila VandenBerg.
Congratulations!
